Banish those away day blues
We have all been on those awful, dull away days. They are either a series of interminable powerpoint slides or whacky team building exercises or have no relation to your day-to-day activities … whether it is a Strategy Planning Day, a Problem Solving workshops, a Team Building Away Day … I specialise in making sure your away days and workshops deliver.
I ensure the day is based on clear objectives that are linked to your business strategy. More importnatly, I will design an approach that matches the needs and expectations of the attendees to make sure they stay engaged all day long.
What makes a good facilitator?
Being a good facilitator is about planning, being prepared and making sure everyone feels included. But it is also about making sure people think differently, explore new ideas and challenge each other in a safe environment.
If you are going to take a number of staff away from their desk, you want to make sure that they are just as productive as if they were still in the office. You want them to be engaged, to come up with ideas, to listen and talk and to enjoy the day.
Paul was applauded for the extensive homework he had done on us in preparation for the day, getting to know our organisation and activities, having a very clear structure to take us through the day in a logical sequence, and being open about our successes as well as where we needed to be challenged. The use of a ‘thinking hats’ exercise and drawing together views on what we do well and what we stand for moved us to a clearer, more confident view forward.Roger Blake
